The site location, next to public/ collective functions such as the town hall, the post office, the public park and the church, is a good starting point for the project.
The architectural complex consists of an entry volume connected to the modules of
the classrooms behind by glazed corridors.
The entry building is for administrative functions and it is aligned to the existing industrial buildings nearby. It is a two level building that includes rooms
for assistants, spaces for the children to sleep and a flexible space where it is possible to have meetings or classroom support.
Behind the entry building there is a glazed corridor that reaches all teaching areas of the school and the classrooms, the playground
and the open space for common
activities, a central hall. The volumes of the four classrooms is what characterizes the project.
It visually recalls the image of a tent or a hut, and has a square plant and a pyramid
asymmetrical section.
The alternation of glazed corridors and the classrooms offers the opportunity to have a series of courtyards alternating green spaces and paved paths.
In the classroom, in the middle of the south side, there is an empty open space, a patio, containing the vegetation, divided from the
interior by large windows.
This vacuum has a great importance because it gives more value to the space and is also energy efficient, making solar gains in winter and summer cooling favoring a continuous air turnover.
